A moisturizing jojoba blend to keep you warm!
Cold, dry weather can make you feel just that—cold and dry. When I lived in a cold climate it seemed like I was always looking forward to the next cup of tea or hot bath!
Here’s an aromatherapy recipe for one of my favorite moisturizing jojoba blends. You can create a warming effect by blending with essential oils that promote circulation, open up your breath, and get the energy moving throughout your body.
You’ll need a 1 oz (30 ml) bottle with a lid. You can make this blend right in the bottle.
Warming & Moisturizing!
- 1 oz (30 ml) jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)
- 3 drops Black Pepper essential oil (Piper nigrum)
- 2 drops Cardamom essential oil (Ellettaria cardamomum)
- 5 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)
- 3 drops Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
First, pour your jojoba into the bottle. It should come right up to the “shoulder” of the bottle, so there’s room for a few drops of essential oil. Then drop your oils right in, tighten the lid, and shake gently. You’re done!
I love including Black Pepper in warming blends like this! It is so good for circulation, and for reducing muscle spasms (less shivering!). On its own, Black Pepper can be a little irritating for skin. But in this blend, we’re combining it with jojoba and Lavender. These oils are so friendly to skin that they mitigate the minor irritation that Black Pepper might otherwise cause.
Cardamom is another warming oil, which acts synergistically with the others to get your energy moving.
This moisturizing jojoba blend has a few extra benefits: it’s great for preventing colds and can open up your breathing. If you do happen to come down with a cold, it’s very comforting to smooth this blend onto your skin after a warm bath.
