Skin troubles lead Jessica to study at Aromahead Institute
Aromahead graduate Jessica Goniea was in her early twenties when she developed adult-onset acne.
Wanting to care for her skin, Jessica began getting regular facials.
But she also wanted to know how to support her skin’s natural healing processes. She began studying timeless natural remedies like plants, herbalism, and the effect that nutrition has on the skin.
Jessica’s passion led her to become a licensed esthetician. And the more she learned, the more she wanted to know!
Jessica enrolled in Aromahead’s Aromatherapy Certification Program to better understand essential oils and their roll in skin care and overall wellness.

Jessica starts her own apothecary!
As Jessica became a master of plant-based skin care, she saw her complexion become clear and radiant.
She was astonished at the results . . . and inspired! If all of her knowledge helped her look and feel her best, maybe it could help others, too.
Jessica started her own business—Jessica’s Apothecary.
On her website, she writes:
“[Jessica’s Apothecary] combines the luxury of a day spa
with the expertise of a botanical skin care specialist.
“Everything that we use in our facials and sell in our shop
is cruelty-free and free of synthetic fragrance, artificial
colorants, SLS, parabens, and other unnecessary chemicals.”
Jessica’s Apothecary has an online shop and a physical location in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Jessica’s tips for “maskne”
I could read Jessica’s blog for hours! It’s full of informative pieces.
She recently wrote about managing “maskne.” What’s maskne?
“Put simply, when you breathe inside your mask
for hours, it increases the amount of humidity
around your face and creates a breeding ground for acne.”
- Wear a satin or silk mask.
- Wash reusable masks between every wear.
- Find safe moments to take a mask break.
And, of course, pay extra special attention to your skin care routine—especially exfoliation and hydration. She has a trio of natural products that she recommends.
Goats & herbs on a permaculture farm!
As if Jessica weren’t inspiring enough, I have to tell you about where she lives . . .
On a permaculture farm in Michigan!
Her farm has an orchard, prairie, a pond, an abundant garden, and friendly goats. She even builds community by offering a U-Pick Chamomile Garden to friends and neighbors. Some of the herbs she grows find their way into her handcrafted small-batch line of products, Stony Creek Aromatics.
