Rose Hydrosol from a French Distiller

    July 01, 2012

Recently, I visited a a lovely couple in France who have a rose distillery called Verdon, Roses and Aromes. They produce some of the most amazing rose hydrosol I've ever come across. They have beautiful fields of organically grown roses. 5,000 bushes, and planting more every year! Along with their sublime rose hydrosol, they craft a number of other body care products with their distilled rose essential oils. […]

    Natural Cleaning Tips

    December 12, 2011

Here are a few fun natural cleaning tips from my eBook, Essential Living: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home. Cutting Boards To keep wooden and plastic cutting boards free of bacteria, use a few drops of Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon). First, wash the board with hot water and castile soap. Then put about five drops of Lemon essential oil on a clean sponge and wipe the board vigorously, front and back. A nice side effect is that the sponge is now also clean and bacteria free! Floors Use hydrosols and hot water on the floors. Any mop will do, but we suggest mops with a removable terry cloth cleaning surface. They’re great for cleaning hardwood floors, ceramic tile, marble, and vinyl. They also work well on ceilings, walls, and windows. The terry cloth cover is removable and machine washable. When cleaning floors, soak the terry cloth cover (or regular mop) in hot water. Squeeze the water out, then pour a cap full (a few tablespoons) of Lavender hydrosol or Sweet Grass hydrosol directly onto the mop. Deodorizing Spray for Trash Makes: One 16 oz (480 ml) spray bottle Ingredients:
15 oz (450 ml) water 1 oz (30 ml) white vinegar 20 drops Peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) 30 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) 30 drops Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon) […]

    Shingles Spray

    July 26, 2008

Recently, a friend of mine was diagnosed with shingles. It was very painful, and she asked me to make her a blend for the pain. I made her a shingles spray that she used five or six times a day. She reported that it really reduced the pain and the relief lasted for many hours. The recipe includes a product called Solubol. This is an all natural "dispersant" that helps essential oils dissolve in water or hydrosols. As you know, essential oils and water don't mix. When essential oils are added into a water or hydrosol spray, the tiny droplets of oil stay separate from the rest of the liquid. When sprayed on the body, we get tiny droplets of neat essential oil on our skin. […]
