The Essential Oil of Roman Chamomile Benefits Us in Several Ways—Including Digestion!

Imagine something with me for a moment . . .

You're standing in a gorgeous field of little white flowers. Behind you is an essential oil distillery, where some of your friends are producing essential oil from the flowers. The sun shines warmly down on you, and it feels so comforting. You take a deep breath and smell . . . apples in the sun?

You look around, but there are no apple trees.

Where is that beautiful aroma coming from?

From the essential oil distillery!

You see, those little white flowers are Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). And Roman Chamomile essential oil has the most amazing aroma—a combination of warm, fruity, and floral. Like apples in the sun.

That essential oil that your friends are producing has some amazing therapeutic benefits to offer, too.

For example, Roman Chamomile benefits muscle spasms, calming the nervous system, and digestion.

Today, I'd like to give you a Roman Chamomile recipe for digestion and share two essential oils that beautifully complement Roman Chamomile in this way.

Watch this video to find out more about this gorgeous oil!

Calm Belly, Happy Belly!

  • 1 fl oz (30 ml) Jojoba Wax (Simmondsia chinensis)

  • 8 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil (Chamaemelum nobile)

  • 4 drops Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)

  • 4 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

Make your blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle. Combine the jojoba and essential oils, and shake gently.

When you've eaten a little too much, and your belly feels over-full, you can massage some of this blend into your stomach and low back.

It helps calm spasms and "get things moving," so you don't feel like you're about to burst!

Roman Chamomile benefits different kinds of stomach discomfort, so you can also reach for this blend if you have indigestion, cramps, nausea, or your stomach is just a little upset and you're not sure why.

The two other oils in this blend, Orange and Peppermint, support the way Roman Chamomile benefits digestion.

Peppermint is a classic for this—in some countries, it's traditional to follow a meal with a cup of Peppermint tea. It helps easy digestion and brings a fresh, bright taste to your mouth after you've eaten! The essential oil is just as helpful when we apply it topically in a belly blend.

Not everyone is aware that Orange essential oil can benefit digestion. It's more popular for the bright, optimistic mood it inspires and even for natural cleaning. But Orange is fantastic when it comes to calming spasms, reducing swelling, and easing digestion. Such a nurturing presence in a belly oil!

A belly oil is just one way Roman Chamomile benefits us—there are many others, as I mentioned!

If you'd like to experience the way Roman Chamomile essential oil can help calm your nerves and relax your heart, try it in an inhaler. (Here's a recipe I shared on YouTube.) Taking a few moments to breathe deeply with an Aromatherapy inhaler can help you feel more centered and soothed anytime, anywhere.

And if your muscles feel tight and cramped, try Roman Chamomile essential oil in a bath salt. (Here's another recipe I shared on YouTube!) I love bath salts like this before bed when they help relieve physical and emotional tension.

I hope you and your belly enjoy these recipes!
