Neroli Vetiver Hydrosol Body Spritz

Neroli Vetiver Hydrosol Body Spritz

Hydrosol body spritzes are so refreshing!

Hydrosols are created during the process of distillation at the same time as essential oils. After the plant material has been distilled, then we have both the essential oil and the water portion of the distillate. The water portion is the hydrosol.

Hydrosols are aromatic and offer their own therapeutic effects, distinct from the essential oil that came from the same plant. (Nature never ceases to amaze me!) I like to use pure hydrosols for things like natural cleaning blends and body spritzes. It is so refreshing to spritz yourself with a few sprays of hydrosol if you’re feeling busy, stressed, or if it’s a hot day. And you can use your Lavender hydrosol body spritz as a surface cleaner if you like! Aromatherapy is beautifully versatile and always there for us.

This is a Neroli Vetiver Hydrosol Body Spritz that you can use as a perfume or body spray to feel relaxed . . . and smell good!

  • 3 oz (90 ml) Neroli hydrosol (Citrus aurantium var. amara)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Vetiver hydrosol (Vetiveria zizanoides)

Make this blend in a 4 oz (120 ml) spray bottle.

If you’d like to personalize this blend, you can add the Vetiver hydrosol slowly. Pour in a bit of Vetiver, then take some time to smell the blend. Then add a bit more. When you love the aroma of your blend, consider it finished.

Neroli and Vetiver are two popular hydrosols for perfumes and body spritzes. Neroli has a captivating floral aroma, and it’s been used as a perfume throughout much of history. And Vetiver is so lovely that it makes a perfect perfume all by itself! In my book, The Heart of Aromatherapy: An Easy-to-Use Guide for Essential Oils, I have a recipe for “Forever Vetiver” body spritz, made with pure Vetiver hydrosol! (There’s also one for “Vetiver’s Tranquil Rose Facial Mist,” made with Vetiver and Rose).

A few other hydrosols that make beautiful body spritzes are Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), Rose (Rosa damascena), Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and Peppermint (Mentha × piperita).

Hydrosols are gentle and nourishing for skin, so feel free to spray away!
