Make Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray for Kids’ Owies

Make Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray for Kids’ Owies

Protect & repair kids’ damaged skin with this essential oil recipe

Kids like to run around and play.

But getting scrapes and bruises slows down the fun!

Make this all-natural essential oil recipe to soothe their owies and protect their damaged skin.

This blend includes three powerful essential oils proven to support skin’s resilience and to quiet inflammation. It’s made in a base of aloe vera gel, which has been researched for the way it strengthens and “rebuilds” skin. It’s also wonderfully cooling—very comforting for owies!

Here’s the recipe…

Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray for Kids

    • 1 oz (30 ml) Lavender hydrosol (Lavandula angustifolia)
    • ½ oz (14 g) Aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)
    • 2 ml Solubol (dispersant)
    • 4 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)
    • 3 drops Helichrysum essential oil (Helichrysum italicum)
    • 2 drops Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Make this blend in a 2 oz (60 ml) PET plastic spray bottle. (PET plastic doesn’t leach.)

    1. Pour the aloe vera gel into your bottle.
    2. Add the Lavender hydrosol.
    3. Add the essential oils.
    4. Add the Solubol dispersant.

Close the bottle and shake well to blend up all the ingredients.

Then spray it over kids’ small owies, like scrapes, stings, and sunburns. If the skin is broken and bleeding, it’s best if you can wash the area before using this spray. But if you can’t get to a sink right away, this spray will help protect the damaged skin until you can find some soap and water.

Wondering what Solubol is, and why you need it?

Solubol is a dispersant that helps keep the essential oils dispersed through the water-based carriers—the aloe vera and hydrosol. Since oil and water won’t mix, you’ll need the Solubol to keep the ingredients blended together. Even so, you’ll want to give this blend a good shake before each time you use it.

Store it in the fridge. This will keep it cool (so it feels ultra-comforting on irritated, damaged skin), and prolong the shelf life of the aloe.

However, there’s no preservative in this blend. Make a fresh bottle every few weeks.

Why this recipe works

I mentioned that along with the aloe vera gel, the essential oils in this blend are proven to help protect and repair damaged skin.

Here’s how they do it!

Frankincense essential oil
Boswellia carterii

Frankincense is one of the most renowned skin care oils in the aromatherapy world.

It contains natural components (such as d-limonene) that are proven to calm inflammation, making Frankincense popular for urgent “rescue” blends.

It’s also great for long-term use. Frankincense oil is common in daily skincare, since it’s been shown to have antioxidant properties.

Helichrysum essential oil
Helichrysum italicum

Helichrysum is so good at repairing skin that it’s also known as “everlasting” and “immortelle.”

In addition to being popular for rescue blends, this “fountain of youth” oil is often used in luxury products for rejuvenating aged and damaged skin.

In fact, Helichrysum essential oil is so potent that I don’t recommend using it on puncture wounds. It might work too quickly, and puncture wounds need to heal more slowly (from the inside out).

Lavender essential oil
Lavandula angustifolia

If the essential oil world contains a “panacea” for skincare, Lavender might be it!

Lavender is universally soothing for a wide variety of skin issues and inflammation—from bites and stings, to sunburns, to bruises, to scrapes. Lavender can even calm muscle and joint inflammation.

One reason it’s so effective is its high concentration of the natural component “linalool,” which has been widely studied for its inflammation-calming benefits.

Use this blend for emotional rescue, too.

Kids can get anxious and upset when they’re in pain.

Fortunately, the oils in your Lavender & Aloe Rescue Spray are excellent for creating feelings of safety and security.

If the child still can’t calm down, you can use a blend that helps ease anxiety for little ones.

Give this one a try—it’s called "Orange’s Sweet Retreat Diffuser Blend".
