If your Grandmother raised you close to nature, taking you camping and teaching you about natural remedies, plants, and herbs, you might grow up assuming that most people were aware of how to care for their health holistically.
After all, if natural living had always been a part of your life, it would seem . . . well . . . natural to you!
This was Debbi Alberto’s experience.
Imagine how surprised Debbi was when she realized that most people in her life knew next to nothing about natural remedies, holistic care, and nurturing their health with herbs and plants.
Debbi found herself in a unique position—she was able to help her friends and family with herbal remedies.
If you have ever been able to help someone you care about feel better, you know how fulfilling it is! Debbi experienced that first hand, and began to actively deepen her knowledge so she could offer even more to others.
In 1991, she became interested in essential oils—a whole new way to use her beloved plants and herbs to help others heal! Debbi started by teaching herself, buying books, and asking questions to professionals and Certified Aromatherapists (when she could find them). She dove right in!
When she decided she wanted more in-depth education on essential oils—and to become a Certified Aromatherapist herself—she came to Aromahead. She was fascinated by the amount of well-researched, science-backed information she learned in the ACP (Aromatherapy Certification Program), and she finished the program in less than a year. Then she was a fully Certified Aromatherapist!
In 2010, Debbi opened a part-time business called Debbi’s Aromatherapy. Her business grew and grew. (That often happens when you genuinely help people, offering natural solutions that work for their health. Word of mouth can spread fast!)
Two short years later, Debbi left corporate America to run her Aromatherapy business full-time. (Amazing!)
When she told us this story, Debbi was still experiencing double-digit growth in her business. She said, “I am challenged every day by my customers to think of new blends to help them with their needs. I love being able to help people on a more customized level, rather than just grabbing a blend off the shelf (although I do that too), and my customers really appreciate the time they get from me. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.”
You can find Debbi’s Aromatherapy online here. She sells high-quality essential oils and Aromatherapy supplies, as well as some ready-made blends (like her “Herbal ‘Kick Ass’ Salve”—haha!)
I am so inspired by the way that Debbi took all of the traditional knowledge of herbs and plants shared by her Grandmother, and turned it into a lifetime of helping people with natural remedies—even becoming a Certified Aromatherapist and running her own business.
Stories like hers show me—Aromatherapy truly does change lives.
I would like to leave you with another quote from Debbi . . .
“If you are looking for a rewarding career full of challenges and the opportunity to touch other people’s lives, this is it. My husband is a massage therapist and runs Joe’s Body Shop, and our two businesses together have allowed us to help so many people. It’s very humbling, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.”
If you would like to learn more about the Aromatherapy Certification Program that Debbi loved so much, you can read more about it here. Giving yourself an in-depth, solid education in essential oils, is also a gift to everyone you could help with that knowledge.
