4 Essential Oils for Congestion + 2 Amazing Blends = Happy Holidays!

What do Cedarwood, Elemi, Black Pepper, and Eucalyptus essential oils all have in common?

They are all great essential oils for congestion.

Here are 2 blends that will help support our respiratory system.

There's an inhaler that you can keep in your pocket and use during the day and a chest rub oil that you can massage into your chest, neck, and upper back. This is helpful at night when you're (hopefully!) not awake to use your inhaler.

These four essential oils for congestion offer support from different angles. They help...

  • reduce mucus and congestion in the sinuses

  • boost immunity

  • soothe a sore throat (especially Black Pepper)

  • disperse chest congestion (I especially love the way Elemi essential oil can break up chest congestion. It's one of my top oils for that!)

Congestion Clear Inhaler

Support your respiratory system and support your breathing with this inhaler blend.

Ingredients
  • 3 drops Eucalyptus oil (Eucalyptus globulus)

  • 5 drops Cedarwood oil (Juniperus virginiana)

  • 5 drops Elemi oil (Canarium luzonicum)

  • 2 drops Black Pepper oil (Piper nigrum)

Equipment
  • Blank inhaler with a cotton or polyester wick

Directions
  • Slide the wick into the inhaler.

  • Drop the essential oils right onto the wick.

  • Snap the plastic bottom into place.

An Aromatherapy inhaler is about the size of a lip balm tube. It's a great choice for delivering essential oils right to the "scene of the action" during congestion! All you have to do is drop the essential oils onto the inhaler's cotton "wick," then slip the cotton into the inhaler's sleeve. Once you've got the inhaler closed all up, you can use it as often as you need until you feel better.

It will last about two months after you make it.

Congestion Clear Chest Rub

Clear your breathing with this supportive chest rub.

Ingredients
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis)

  • 3 drops Eucalyptus oil (Eucalyptus globulus)

  • 5 drops Cedarwood oil (Juniperus virginiana)

  • 5 drops Elemi oil (Canarium luzonicum)

  • 2 drops Black Pepper oil (Piper nigrum)

Equipment
  • One 1 fl oz (30 ml) amber glass bottle with coned cap

Directions
  • Add the jojoba oil to the glass bottle.

  • Drop in your essential oils.

  • Gently shake the bottle to combine.

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle. Combine the jojoba and essential oils for congestion, shake gently, and rub it into your chest, shoulders, and neck as often as you need.

Now you can take a deep breath and enjoy the holidays!
