Aromatherapy Careers: Becoming an Aromatherapy Filmmaker

Blog- June 5- Blog Title -Aromatherapy Careers Becoming an Aromatherapy Filmmaker- 1200 x 628- V1

I’ll bet it has not been long since you watched a video on YouTube and learned something.

Or maybe you have recently taken in a documentary that expanded your knowledge.

Watching videos is simply a great way to learn!

And that means MAKING videos is a great way to teach!

I can tell you from my personal experience, this is 100% true when it comes to Aromatherapy.

I have such a great time making Aromatherapy video for Aromahead Institute’s YouTube channel—and it is a wonderful way for me to interact with people and build a community of like-minded people.

I also make sure to include videos in Aromahead’s online classes. Many people learn more easily when they have a visual and auditory component to take in. It’s more interactive and engaging. And a good video host can make you feel like you are right there in the room with them, making blends in their kitchen.

Have you ever imagined making your own Aromatherapy videos?

If you have a passion for videos and film, there is so much opportunity for you to create an Aromatherapy career in that field. You can earn money right on YouTube. You can even make an entire, full-length film.

That’s exactly what Aromahead graduates Kristina Bauer and Angie Ehmke are doing!

Kristina and Angie are both Certified Aromatherapists, and met when they were taking Aromahead’s Teacher Training Program.

They formed a beautiful bond which blossomed into a friendship. Kristina had a background in writing and marketing, and Angie had a background in film and TV. It wasn’t long before they decided to blend their talents and create a documentary about essential oils and Aromatherapy!

uncommon scentsTheir film is called Uncommon Scents.

It explores the astonishing boom in Aromatherapy’s popularity (the film’s website says, “In a 2015 article, the Washington Examiner reported that searches for the term ‘essential oils’ tripled between 2013 and 2015.”), some of the misinformation that is being shared about essential oils, the benefits of relying on evidence-based use of the oils, and so much more.

Uncommon Scents is entirely crowdfunded, and as of the beginning of 2019, it’s in post-production. That means Kristina and Angie already have all of their expert interviews filmed, all of their footage shot, and are in the final stages of production.

It will not be long now before we are all treated to their “baby”—Uncommon Scents!

I’m so excited to see it!

If you dream of a career making videos about Aromatherapy, you can start with what you have.

Even an iPhone or mobile can be a fantastic movie-making device until you feel ready to invest in a different camera.

However you start, education will be your friend every step of the way.

If you don’t already have a background in filmmaking, you can learn about it as you go, or take a class to feel more grounded and knowledgeable. (Try watching videos about how to make videos, haha!)

You’ll want to understand essential oils very well too, so you know you’re sharing reliable, evidence-based information with your audience. Inspiration often follows education—you may get all kinds of new ideas for videos as you learn!

May I suggest getting your Aromatherapy Certification, like Kristina and Angie did?

The level of knowledge you achieve in the Aromatherapy Certification Program will not only build your self-confidence and help others feel more confident in you—it will also connect you with an all-important support network as you create your filmmaking career.

You’ll become part of a community of Aromatherapy students and graduates from over 170 countries around the world. You’ll be surrounded and supported by a friendly team of experienced Aromatherapists who are there to help you succeed. (Kristina and Angie are not the only ones who have formed sweet, collaborative friendships while studying at Aromahead!)
