How an Aromatherapy Student Helps a Girl with Chronic Skin Issues

When Diana Ekonomou sat down with a young lady (11 years old) who had severe eczema, she wanted to use her knowledge of essential oils to help.

Diana was still a student of Aromahead's ACP (Aromatherapy Certification Program) at the time.

The young lady came to Diana as one of her Case Studies. Case Studies are the hands-on work that ACP students do with real-world "clients" to make therapeutic blends that help them.

The girl's mother and doctors had all but exhausted the solutions offered by "modern medicine." Even the doctors did not know exactly how to ease her suffering. It was affecting the client's everyday life.

Diana sat down with the girl and her mother for an intake. They discussed the girl's issues and the things she had already tried, and Diana had her smell a few essential oils.

The young girl loved the essential oils!

This did not surprise Diana—after all, essential oils smell amazing. They are easy to love!

But what did surprise her was when the girl asked, "Where do the oils come from and how are they processed?"

Sometimes, teaching a client a little about how essential oils work and where they come from can deepen the client's trust—not only in how effective Aromatherapy can be but in the Aromatherapist herself, too.

Diana EkonomouDiana says she "fired up the computer and started showing her photos of the plants and the distillation process. She was totally amazed and decided that she was going to do more research and write a science paper on essential oils."

Amazing!

I can only imagine the young lady's interest in essential oils deepened when Diana's blend was effective in soothing her eczema. The skin condition calmed down, and using a different blend for maintenance, it has not returned. (Diana shared the blends with us below!)

There is nothing like experiencing relief from an ongoing, chronic, painful condition to show someone how effective essential oils can be!

I am so proud of Diana and so happy for her client. Thanks to Diana's love of education, the Aromatherapy community has another member who is interested in the research and science of essential oils!

As for Diana, she loved the ACP so much that she decided to continue her education and enrolled in the AGP—the Advanced Graduate Program—to learn even more essential oil chemistry.

Seeing the success that this path has taken makes me crave even more knowledge.

If you crave more knowledge about essential oils too, I invite you to check out the Aromatherapy Certification Program that Diana graduated from.
