All Natural After Sun Spray Recipe

All Natural After Sun Spray Recipe

This all natural after sun spray recipe is made with skin-soothing aloe vera gel and Aromatherapy hydrosols.

Here’s a list of fun things to do in on a sunny day!

  • Work in your garden
  • Take a walk
  • Go for a bike ride
  • Go swimming!
  • Take a book outside and read
  • Have breakfast outside . . . and lunch . . . and dinner!
  • Get sunburned

Oh, wait . . .

The last thing on that list isn’t fun, is it?

But sometimes, sunburn just shows up after the other fun things on the list. (It is like a guest that shows up after the party is already over, and then will not go home . . .)

Did you know you can make an all natural after sun spray that can help soothe the pain of a sunburn?

This after sun spray recipe feels cool on over-heated skin, calms inflammation, and supports skin to repair and restore its natural balance after sun exposure.

It’s perfectly safe to spray directly on your skin—even for children!

All Natural After Sun Spray with Lavender & Chamomile

  • 2 oz (56 g) aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Lavender hydrosol (Lavandula angustifolia)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) German Chamomile hydrosol (Matricaria recutita)

Make this blend in a 4 oz (120 ml) spray bottle.

Combine the aloe vera gel and hydrosols, and shake well. Then spray it as needed over sunburned areas. You can even spritz it right onto your face (be sure to close your eyes). You’ll want to shake it well before each time you use it.

For an extra-soothing cooling effect, keep it in the fridge!

Aloe vera is a well-known natural plant gel that supports skin’s overall health, and offers nourishment to skin that needs some TLC. It dries quickly, so this after sun spray will not leave your skin oily or greasy. The aloe vera gel I like to use has a very watery texture, so it sprays easily. (I get it from Aromatics International.)

I chose to add Lavender and German Chamomile hydrosols to this recipe, too.

Hydrosols are all natural Aromatherapy products, and are produced during the same distillation process that gives us essential oils.

For example . . .

When we put Lavender plant material into a still with water, everything gets heated to the point where the Lavender releases its essential oil.

And the water itself within the still becomes infused with water-soluble properties of the Lavender plant material.

Amazing, right?

Lavender and German Chamomile hydrosols are very gentle, and rich with skin-nourishing, therapeutic benefits that can help us stay moisturized and heal after sun exposure.

I suggest making a fresh bottle of this every few weeks, since it is an all natural after sun spray that does not include preservatives.

I hope you enjoy your times outside!
