3 Ways to Use Coriander Essential Oil in Your Life

Blog_Aug242020_3 Ways to Use Coriander Essential Oi in Your Life

How to use Coriander essential oil, safely + effectively, every day.

In his book, Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit, my friend Gabriel Mojay wrote that Coriander has been a popular spice for over 3,000 years.

Wow!

He also says that it’s mentioned in ancient Sanskrit, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and Egyptian writings. It was used medicinally and therapeutically—and was believed to contain the secret of happiness.

I feel so fortunate to have these records from the past of people’s experiences and observations with Coriander.

I also feel fortunate to live in a time when we can use Coriander essential oil, and get all of its amazing therapeutic benefits in a single drop!

How to Use Coriander Essential Oil #1
Digestion

Calming an upset stomach and supporting digestion are some popular ways to use Coriander essential oil! Belly spasms are no match for this muscle-soothing, cramp calming, nausea reducing essential oil.

Coconut Coriander Belly Blend

      • 1 oz (28 g) coconut oil (Cocos nucifera)
      • 9 drops Coriander essential oil (Coriandrum sativum)
      • 9 drops Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass jar.

Put the coconut oil into the jar. If your coconut oil is more solid, make a small indentation in it with your finger. Then drop your essential oils into the indentation, and stir gently with a glass stirring rod (or the handle of a stainless steel spoon).

Massage it into your belly and low back when your belly is grumbling at you!

Pain Relief

Like the other “spicy” essential oils (including Cardamom and Ginger), Coriander essential oil is famous for its ability to naturally relieve pain and inflammation. It’s one of my very favorite essential oils for pain relief.

This is a natural pain relief oil recipe that you can use for sore muscles, tension, and even achy joints (like knees or fingers).

Coriander Pain Relief Oil

      • 1 oz (30 ml) jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)
      • 11 drops Coriander essential oil (Coriandrum sativum)
      • 7 drops Gingergrass essential oil (Cymbopogon martinii var. sofia)

Make this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle.

Combine the jojoba and essential oils in the bottle, and shake gently. Massage it into sore, achy, tense, tight, and painful areas as needed.

Stress & Anxiety

Coriander essential oil includes one of the same natural components that we find in Lavender—it’s called “linalool.”

Linalool is part of what makes Lavender so relaxing for the nervous system.

And just like Lavender, we can use Coriander essential oil to soothe anxiety and calm stress!

This is a blend that you can put right into your essential oil diffuser.

Coriander & Lavender Diffuser Blend

      • 3 drops Coriander essential oil (Coriandrum sativum)
      • 3 drops Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Now you know 3 ways to use Coriander essential oil every day!

The more ways you understand how to safely, effectively use essential oils in your daily life, the more your confidence with Aromatherapy will grow.
