Confession time: As much as I adore venturing out into the world, there's a part of me that dislikes parting with my collection of essential oils and blends.

But the creation of an Aromatherapy travel kit was a game changer.

The idea of packing my favorite blends into a travel-friendly kit is oddly reassuring. It provides a sense of grounding, knowing that even on the go, my wellness routine remains uninterrupted.

Here, I'll share six blend ideas to help you curate your personalized Aromatherapy travel kit.

All these recipes use volumes less than 4 oz (120 ml), making them airplane-friendly. For storage, I recommend using PET plastic bottles. Their durability withstands the rough-and-tumble of travel, and PET plastic is renowned for its non-reactive nature which prevents leaching, making it a suitable alternative to glass.

  1. Hand Gel: Blend together just under 2 oz (60 ml) aloe vera gel, 4 drops Peppermint (Mentha x piperita), 12 drops Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct. 1,8-cineole), and 14 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis). For enhanced dispersion, add 1.5 ml Solubol. Perfect for refreshing hands after touching common surfaces.

  2. Travel Sickness Inhaler: Combine 2 drops Peppermint (Mentha x piperita), 7 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis), and 6 drops Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). This concoction serves as a handy remedy for nausea.

  3. Immunity Inhaler: Mix 4 drops Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct. 1,8-cineole), 8 drops Siberian Fir (Abies siberica), and 3 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia). Use this before and during your journey to bolster your immune system.

  4. Aches & Pains Body Oil: Blend 1 oz (30 ml) Trauma Oil (a premade infusion of arnica, St. John's wort, and calendula in olive oil), 10 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and 8 drops Black Spruce (Picea mariana). Carry this to ease any unexpected muscle strains or sprains.

  5. Linen Spray: Stir together 2 oz (60 ml) water, 1 drop Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara), 3 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis), and 10 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii). This spray can freshen your hotel room or aid sleep by spraying on the linens. I suggest making a fresh batch every few weeks.

  6. Pure Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia): Unadulterated Lavender is a versatile addition to your kit, effective for acute issues like bee stings, burns, or anxiety. This wonder oil is perfect for instant relief from numerous physical and emotional problems.

Having an allergy blend on standby can be a lifesaver. Exploring new regions exposes you to unfamiliar allergens, which might trigger unexpected reactions.
