Can I tell you about one of my long-time dreams? I’ve always wanted to write this kind of Aromatherapy book!
I dreamed of creating a book that was full of recipes, essential oil profiles, and stories about the amazing farmers and distillers I’ve visited and become good friends with over the years.
One of my favorite things about being part of the Aromatherapy profession is the beautiful community of people involved in it. You all inspire me every day, and my heart feels so full when I think of all the friends I’ve made in Aromatherapy. That’s what I wanted to infuse into my book. I wanted it to show the true “heart” in Aromatherapy and help others feel that connection.
Well, I am so excited to share that my dream has come true. Hay House has published my Aromatherapy book, The Heart of Aromatherapy: An Easy-to-Use Guide for Essential Oils!
The book is everything I dreamed! There are 40 essential oil profiles and over 100 recipes for skin care, rest and relaxation, respiratory support, pain relief, digestion, natural cleaning, and meditation and contemplation. I included stories about the farmers and distillers who grow the plants and produce the oils. Those sections were particularly fun to write, because it gave me the chance to spotlight the people who produce the essential oils we all so dearly love—what we do would not be possible without them!
I hope you will enjoy the way I wrote the essential oil profiles . . . I gave each oil a unique “personality,” with character traits (and sometimes even a job, haha!). The oils have always felt like friends to me, and I wanted that to stand out in the book. They are more than oils—they are partners and allies who are there for us when we need them.
The idea for this was born out of my email series, Aromahead Weekly, where I have fun sharing recipes and characterizing the oils in this way. Readers always tell me how much they enjoy those emails, and how the oils’ “personalities” make it easier to remember their therapeutic properties, and the way the oils can affect our emotions. (There are so many wonderful oils we can blend with . . . how do you know which oil to reach for at which time? Getting to know them like friends can help you decide.)
Each recipe in The Heart of Aromatherapy is accompanied by a kid-friendly version. I am happy to say that this book will be useful for parents, beginners, and experienced Aromatherapists alike.
Hay House did a beautiful job designing and creating my Aromatherapy book! I’ve always enjoyed their publications, but working with them took my appreciation to a whole new level. They are a team of professional, caring people, and they were dedicated to helping me bring my truest vision to life.
I am thrilled that the book became a best-seller on Amazon even before it was officially published! The pre-sales alone were over 8000 and took it to best-seller status! For that, I want to thank everyone who pre-ordered a copy of the book. If you don’t have a copy yet, you can find it on Amazon here. It’s also sold at other retailers, if you’d prefer to buy from them:
I hope that The Heart of Aromatherapy finds a place in your home and in your heart, that you’ll find yourself opening it again and again for the information and recipes there.
