2016 is drawing to a close, and what a wonderful year it’s been. I’ve had so much fun blogging and working with everyone at Aromahead!
I’d like to share two Mary Oliver quotes with you that speak to me about living a full, happy life. I like to revisit these quotes now and then, especially at the end or beginning of the year, when I want to focus on reconnecting with myself and having vision for the future.
And I’ll bet you’ve guessed . . . I have Aromatherapy blends for you, inspired by each quote!
The first quote is…
What a beautiful reminder for how to keep a sense of presence and awe in our lives!
“Instructions for living a life.
Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
— Mary Oliver
Here’s a diffuser blend that I hope leaves you feeling inspired.
Be Astonished (Diffuser Blend)
3 drops Cardamom (Ellettaria cardamomum)
3 drops Tangerine (Citrus tangerina)
2 drops Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara)
1 drop Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
You can also make a moisturizing body oil with this blend of oils. Add them to a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle with jojoba wax (Simmondsia chinensis).
This is a great cold weather moisturizer. The Cardamom is spicy, but when used at this low dilution and balanced with the other oils in the blend, its effect is warming and comforting.
And here’s the second quote:
“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate.
Give in to it.”
— Mary Oliver
This quote calls for a bright, joyous blend of oils! I have just the right one. I hope every time you smell this blend, you feel happy and full of peace.Sudden Joy (Diffuser Blend)
- 1 drop Rose (Rose damascena)
- 2 drops Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
- 4 drops Yuzu (Citrus junos)
- 6 drops Sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum)
Another way you can use these oils is by adding them to 1 oz (30 ml) of unscented lotion.
This makes for a very skin nourishing lotion, perfect for moisturizing after an evening bath or when you just want to relax before bed. (If you add your oils to lotion in this way, I suggest blending a fresh batch every few weeks or so.)
I’m already looking forward to 2017. . . see you on the other side of the New Year!
