I recently added a new distiller to the Aromahead Distiller Directory that I'd love to share with you. The company is called Naturalness!
Naturalness is in the rural interior of Portugal in a small village name Louriçal do Campo, which is nested at the base of Serra da Gardunha in the district of Castelo Branco. In this area, you can find Cistus ladanifer (also known as Rock Rose), which is native and abundant. Naturalness is dedicating their company to the extraction of this gorgeous plant for essential oil and hydrosol.
(In case you haven't heard of the plant before, Rock Rose oil has a very strong aroma, is a golden amber color—see the picture in the slideshow below—and is fantastic for scars, wounds and skin issues. It's a great cicatrisant, and a little bit goes a long way. It has a powerful and healing energetic quality in times of emotional distress.)
Naturalness is a small family business and hires locals to harvest plants in the wild by using a sickle and cutting the top parts, which are the leaves and stems. This allows the plant to renew itself and grow back again in one year. For distillation, Naturalness uses gravity water from a small river to cool down their condenser, letting it go untouched back to the river again.
Since Naturalness just started business a few months ago, their website is under construction... but like them on Facebook to learn more about their company, their distillation process, and the beautiful Rock Rose!
