Yuzu Essential Oil

Have you used Yuzu? (Try saying that a few times fast!)

Yuzu essential oil is extracted from Citrus junos, a small tree that produces citrus fruits that look like oranges or small grapefruits. Their color is orange-yellow with hints of green, and their peels are bumpy.

Traditionally, the fruit peels were used in hot baths on the day of the winter solstice to protect bathers from winter colds and flu.

These days we use Yuzu essential oil for soothing arthritis, rheumatism, and overall muscle aches and pains. The oil from the fruit is also known to stimulate the digestive system. (Little known fact: The zest and juice are essential ingredients in Japanese Ponzu sauce.)

The aroma of the oil is somewhere between Grapefruit and Tangerine, with soft hues of Bergamot and Lime. It has a subtle floral note and a longer lasting aroma than other citrus oils.
