3 Blends for a Yoga Mat Spray

Essential oil yoga mat sprays are excellent! They not only clean your mat—they support your health, and their wonderful aromas help you keep that "yoga calm" even longer.

I made a short DIY video showing you how to make a very simple essential oil yoga mat spray. The recipe is called Calm and Clean.

Calm and Clean

10 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
10 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
1 oz (30 ml) of water in spray bottle

Here are two more great yoga mat spray recipes:

Uplift and Clean

5 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis)
5 drops Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis ct. camphor)
5 drops Cardamom (Ellettaria cardamomum)
1 oz (30 ml) of water in spray bottle

Center and Clean

10 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
10 drops Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
1 oz (30 ml) of water in spray bottle

You can also use your spray to create a beautiful aroma in the room before you begin your yoga practice, or even during a class. Like yoga, essential oils can support the health of your body, mind and soul.

Three additional ways to use essential oils to support your yoga practice:

Diffuse: Spreading an essential oil through the air in a room is known as "diffusion." Your options for diffusion range from simply putting a few drops of oil on some clay balls in a bowl, to using candle or electric nebulizers that diffuse the essential oil throughout a larger area.

Sore Muscle Lotion: Add essential oils to an unscented lotion and take advantage of the healing properties that relieve muscle soreness, tension and spasms. Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary and Black Spruce are a few especially effective oils for these issues.

Meditation Inhaler: Inhalers are wonderful tools to calm your nervous system and help you breathe more deeply. Frankincense, Siberian Fir and Patchouli are wonderful oils to inhale and support your meditation practice.

I recommend making a fresh batch of yoga mat cleaner (or the sore muscle lotion) every few weeks.
