3 Great Recipes for Lavender

by Andrea Butje on March 02, 2013

The floral, fresh, herbaceous and sweet scent of Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a tranquil and often familiar aroma, making it a truly popular scent.

Today, Lavender is grown in a number of countries, including the USA, France, India, Bulgaria, Hungary, New Zealand, Croatia, Australia and  Spain. Lavender aromatherapy recipes are popular in all those countries and more.

Even after all these years, and having a huge collection of essential oils, I find myself reaching for the Lavender regularlyI use it for the daily stuff--a burn, a cut, a bath or a caterpillar sting (not kidding!). I also find myself adding it to cleaning products, inhalers, hand cleansers, incense . . . the list goes on.

Do you have a Lavender recipe to share? I would love to generate a list of recipes--can you offer one in the comments below? Thanks!

Here are a few of my favorite Lavender aromatherapy recipes I hope you'll enjoy:

Lavender Coconut Vanilla Sugar Scrub

8 oz brown sugar
4 oz coconut oil
4 oz vanilla infused jojoba oil
50 drops (about 2 mLs) Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Mix all ingredients together and store in a large container. Use a handful in the shower as a gentle scrub.

Bathroom Deodorizer

4 oz baking soda
20 drops Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Mix together with a spoon, place in a ceramic or glass bowl and leave out on the bathroom sink or counter.
