Aromatherapy and Massage!

by Andrea Butje on January 18, 2013

Cindy Black and I have been writing our new online class, Aromatherapy for Massage Therapists, for almost a year now. It's finally done and published, and people are registering!

Cindy made a funny ad one night when we had been writing all day and we were delirious. (It makes me laugh every time I see it!)

Aromatherapy for Massage Therapists

Want a sneak preview from the class?

Here's one way to think of the benefit of Aromatherapy Massage: It supports our ability to gracefully adjust our Autonomic Nervous Systems. The sympathetic response's "on switch" (which triggers stress) more easily shifts to "off," and the parasympathetic response (which helps you stay relaxed) comes online. Aromatherapy Massage supports the parasympathetic response. When the parasympathetic is turned on, we respond by listening to our body's desire to rest, to be quiet, to take a walk in nature, take a bath, have a nap, go to sleep, etc.

How about a sneak preview of a blend from the class?

This is a great blend for cleaning your hands after working on your client's feet, or after you've washed your hands but haven't begun the massage yet. If you're in public doing chair massage and can't wash your hands, this is a great blend to use between each client. You can also offer this blend to your clients right before they leave your office. People love how refreshing it feels!

We all know that Aromatherapy and Massage are BFF's!

  • Just under 2 oz (56 g) aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)
  • 6.5 ml Solubol dispersant
  • 20 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)
  • 10 drops Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
  • 10 drops Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea

Make this blend in a 2 oz (60 ml) flip-top bottle.
